School Overview

Want to update information about this school? Click here.
Mindanao Kokusai Daigaku (MKD), also known as the Mindanao International College, is a private educational institution of the Philippine Nikkei Jin Kai in Davao City. Its humble beginnings can be traced to the 1980s when the Japan Philippines Volunteer Association Inc. (JPVA) provided assistance to Filipinos who are Japanese descendants (Nikkeijin). JPVA  started its services with a Japanese language school. This was followed with various projects such as an environmental protection project, a basic education school, and educational and cultural changes. Eventually, the organization established a welfare college in 2001 that was established to provide educational opportunities to the underprivileged youth in Davao City.

The school currently offers undergraduate degree programs in International Studies, Social Services, Teacher Education, Information Systems, Entrepreneurship, and Psychology. MKD and its programs are duly recognized by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED). Named as the No. 1 Japanese College in the Philippines, it is also a member of the Philippines Association for Teacher Education (PAFTE) and Association of Private and State Colleges and Universities in Region XI (APSCUR).
