Misamis University (MU) is a private educational institution originally founded in 1929 by the Felicianos (Dr. Hilarion T. Feliciano and his wife, Doña Maria Mercado Feliciano). It started as the Kolambugan Academy in Kolambugan in Lanao Del Norte, which eventually transferred to the Misamis in order to cater a large portion of students who are in needing of education. With this, the institution was renamed to Misamis Institute.

With the emergence of World War II, the school's operation was disrupted, and resumed its operations in 1946 with elementary and secondary courses offered as part of its curriculum. The institution was inaugurated as a university in 1977, and Dr. Jaime M. Feliciano was the first university president to be put in position. MU is currently located in Feliciano Street, Ozamiz City.
