Nankai University is a public research university in Tianjin, China. The university was founded in 1919 with its motto “dedication to public services, acquisition of all-round capability and aspiration for daily progress.” During 1937-1945, Nankai, Peking (Beijing) and Tsinghua (Qinghua) universities were merged in Kunming to form the Southwest Associated University, now widely referred to as the North Star of Higher Learning.
Since its establishment, Nankai has been one of the leading universities in China. It is known for its programs in business, chemistry, economics, history, and mathematics. The university offers a total of 80 undergraduate programs, 231 masters and 172 doctoral programs as well as 28 post-doctoral research centers. In 2018, there were more than 24,000 who are students studying at Nankai and about 1,9000 of this population are international students.
