Requirements

PhD in Management - Admission to the PhD program requires a bachelor's degree. High grades in one's field of study is important. Admission requirements include taking an OLSAT Level G examination and an interview with the Dean.

Maritime Cadet Officers

Requirements

Admission Requirements
  • Form 138(Average grades in Math, English, and Science subjects should not be less than 85%).
  • NCAE Results. Average in all the ff. areas:
    • Scientific ability
    • Mathematical Ability
    • Manipulative Skill
    • Reading comprehension
    • Verbal ability
    • Clerical ability
    • Non-verbal ability
    • Entrepreneurial skill
  • Certificate of Good Moral Character
  • NSO Birth Certificate
  • Passed the semestral physical exam and the following medical tests: (Pre-employment Medical Examination for Seafarers following the requirements under Reg. I/9 of the STCW and DOH)
    • ISHIHARA
    • Hearing
    • Hepa B
    • CBC
    • Drugs
    • Fecalysis
    • Urinalysis
    • Chest X-ray
  • Obtained at least a passing rate of the APRO examination level (2 for 25% - 75%) 3 is above 75% / OLSAT examination at least score of 36
  • Others:
    • Must be 16-22 years old upon enrolment
    • At least 5’4” in height for BSMT
    • Transferees are not allowed.
Retention Policy
To maintain quality education, the institution adheres to a retention policy for all admitted students, to wit:
  • Must pass the annual physical and medical examinations.
  • Must maintain an average grade of 2.0 (85%) in all subjects enrolled and with no failing grade/s and dropped subject/s.
  • If the cadet-student fails in any of the requirements of the program, he will be advised to shift to another program of his/her own choice or preference.
  • If he commits blunder and other grave offenses, despite repeated reminders/warnings, he will be dropped from the roll.
  • If he is positive on the drug test he will be advised to shift to other courses.
  • Drug Test is done every Semester. A student found to be positive for drugs cannot be admitted next semester.

Senior High School Students

Requirements

Admission Requirements
  • ORIGINAL GRADE 10 report card with the applicant’s eligibility for admission to Senior High School duly signed by the school principal.
  • NCAE Result
  • Original Certificate of Good Moral character (dated February 2016 onwards) from the high school ( with school seal)
  • Photocopy Birth Certificate ( NSO)
  • 2pcs. 2×2 picture (plain white background)
  • One (1) long brown envelope

Incoming Grade 11/Transferees
  1. Present credentials at the personnel assigned
  2. Pay the entrance examination fee at the Cashier’s Office
  3. Take the entrance test at the designated room
  4. Get the exam results at the SPS Office and be ready for the interview of the Principal of the Basic Education
  5. Fill up the Enrolment Form
  6. Pay the down payment at the Cashier's Office
  7. Submit the accomplished form to the Assessment Office
  8. Proceed to the Bookstore to purchase books
  9. Pay the other fees to the teacher-in-charge.
 
Old/Resident Pupils/students
  1. Present F-138 to the teacher-in-charge
  2. Fill up Enrolment Form
  3. If a student has a problem with his grades, he is advised to proceed to the Principal.
  4. Pay the down payment to the Cashier’s Office
  5. Submit the accomplished form to the Assessment Office

Masters Students

Requirements

Master of Arts in Education - Admission to a Master's degree program requires a bachelor's degree. High grades in one's field of study are important. Admission requirements include taking an OLSAT Level G examination and an interview with the Dean.

Master of Management in Business Management - Admission to MBM requires a bachelor's degree in a related field with sufficiently high grades. A prospective graduate student takes an admission test (OLSAT G Level) and an interview by the dean before enrolment.

Master of Management in Public Service Management - Admission to the MPSM requires a bachelor's degree with sufficiently high grades, taking an OLSAT G Level exam, and an interview with the dean.

Retention Policy

To maintain quality education, the institution adheres to a retention policy for all admitted students, to wit:
  • A student with no failing grade/s and dropped subject/s and has maintained an average grade of at least 2.3 (82%) in all subjects enrolled in the previous semester is eligible to continue his course. Failure to meet the required average grade in all subjects, the concerned student will be placed under probationary status for one semester and shall only be allowed to continue his desired program should he meet the required average grade of 2.3 (82%). Otherwise, he/she shall be advised to shift to a non-board program.
  • If the student failed or dropped a subject/s due to illness, financial constraints or etc., he/she may be referred to the College Dean for validation.
  • Drug Test is done every Semester. A student found to be positive for drugs cannot be admitted next semester.

Tech-Voc Students

Requirements

  • At least fifteen years old
  • Copy of NSO Birth Certificate
  • Copy of Good Moral Character from last school attended
  • Undergone a pre-training assessment
  • Can communicate both orally and in written form

Non-Board Programs

Saint Joseph Institute of Technology (SJIT) is a private school along Montilla Boulevard, Butuan City. It was founded by Dr. Nicomedes Salas in 1971 as a technical-vocational institution. From holding classes for 130 students in a two-story building, the school expanded to having five- to six-story buildings catering to thousands of students. Basic and higher education programs also opened later on; at present, SJIT provides programs from the preschool to the post-graduate level.

SJIT offers undergraduate courses under six departments: Arts and Sciences; Business and Information Technology; Criminal Justice and Education; College of Education; Engineering and Architecture; and, Marine Academy. The institution also has a Graduate School department with degree courses in Management and Education. Under the basic education department, Senior High School (SHS) students can choose among the ABM, GAS, HUMSS, and STEM strands.
