Saint Peter's College of Ormoc (SPC) is known to be
the oldest Catholic school in Leyte. It started 1914 as the
Colegio Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe. The school was founded by Fr. Ismael Cataag and was run by the Sisters of Compania de Jesus. In 1926, it was renamed to St. Peter's Institution. Then, when the school opened college courses in 1966, it was renamed to St. Peter's College of Ormoc.
SPC currently provides both basic and higher education programs. It has a Senior High School (SHS) department offering the
Academic Track. For college students, the school has degree courses in
Elementary and Secondary Education, Accountancy, and Business Administration. Additionally, a
Teacher Certificate Program is available for non-education graduates who wish to take the Licensure Examination for Teachers.
