Visas

Requirements

In order to obtain a visa, UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) requires students to have passed a 'SELT' - a secure English language test. Language proficiency qualifications accepted by the University may not be accepted by UKVI, so you must take an approved SELT in order to obtain your visa. You can find a list of approved SELTs on the St Andrews language requirements page.

Postgraduate Programs

Requirements

Postgraduate candidates will be expected to hold a Masters degree with grades of 1.75 or A-.

Postgraduate entrance requirements may be higher depending on the School and the programme you wish to study. For more information please contact the international team in Admissions by emailing pgrecruitment@st-andrews.ac.uk

The degree of MD (Medicine) requires a medical qualification that is recognised by the UK General Council.

Undergraduate Programs

Requirements

If you are interested in undergraduate study at St Andrews, you must meet the University's entrance requirements as outlined below.
If you have graduated from a high school with a national school leaving certificate, we would also expect you to have one of the following:
  • At least 3 A Levels
  • An IB Diploma
  • At least 5 'Group A' advanced placement subjects
  • A foundation programme certificate. The University's Centre for International Foundation Programmes (CIFP) offers a range of programmes providing an excellent preparation for undergraduate academic study. Find out more about taking a foundation programme at the University of St Andrews.
You will also be expected to meet the entrance requirements set by the relevant Faculty for your programme of study.
Applicants to Medicine should refer directly to the School of Medicine or the International Foundation Program for Medicine.
